#Emacs #OrgMode friends! help!

I need a way to exclude files containing .sync-conflict in their name from Org Agenda.
My org setup is such that it reads all the files in a folder.

Context & Details:

Org mode reads my syncbox folder for the agenda.
(syncbox syncs with beorg on the phone via syncthing, so I can see and execute on all my stuff through out the day)
files are open on both the desktop and the phone, and every once in a while syncthing creates a -sync.conflict file and now i have two sets of everything (sometimes 3) (for e.g. tasks.org conflicts and i get, tasks.sync-conflict-20240516-101335.2TWENY.org and tasks.sync-conflict-20240408-041556.2TWENY.org)
for more context, the desktop needs to reigns supreme. i don’t care about the phone. once in a while i go delete the conflicting files and then all is well
i tried hacking org-agenda-file-regexp , but wasn’t successful at asking it to ingore them.

is there a way I can tell org to ignore, files with a certain pattern in my org-agenda directory?

for e.g. with:

I’m inserting times manually by hand currently. But am I missing an M-x org-some-command-to-insert-date or a handy keyboard shortcut?

I kinda try and do a tiny deep dive everytime I want to use a new facet of #emacs and then make notes for myself.
Thankfully #GavinFreeborn does things exactly like me.
So I have all I need for learning about #OrgMode tables

#OrgMode friends, is there a way to show the times I took for a task in my org clock summary itself?

for e.g.

i would like to know the actual time ranges in my Research section. what time to what time did i actually work? is this possible?

if not, i think my next best bet is to set :link t and then have these linked down to the actual task. (don’t want to do this though)

I was today years old when i had the sudden realisation that i could use inactive timestamps (or even active ones should i choose to) as headlines in my #OrgMode files 🤦🏿

I was manually typing dates and then moving trees between them. Now I can just increment the headline date, if I want too! Yippee!

so I need some sort of middle ground of … disciplinary flow, I guess?

also with the old life, all I had to do was show up, and do the work. and that was easy to plan and execute

my current life is very amorphous. I have a lot more responsibilities. I have to take care of family. My body broke in 2018 and it requires daily upkeep to function. And I am trying to pivot careers. All of these generate a lot of work. Not to mention the rest of life throwing things at me.

So I somehow need some approach to taming it. and focus on what I need to do.

I’m good at the long term stuff. I know what I want to do.What I need to try. The paths to get there.

What I currently lack is some way of handling daily life. And what to do when life happens all the time.

Current plan: long term stuff - do with #OrgMode. daily stuff - do with #TimeBlocking

What I *also* need to remember to do is ***review*** mesh what i do on a daily basis and see if it is leading me to where I want to be.

When building your time-block schedule, you should first reference whatever calendar or planner or organisation system you use to make sure that you’re adding time blocks for any meetings or appointments you already have scheduled.

The real decision then becomes what to do with the free time that remains.

To help make these choices, next consult whatever external system you use to track and organize all of the tasks, projects, long-term goals, or other obligations for which you’re currently responsible. You want your schedule to help you make progress on the right activities.

(In my case it’s my calendar and #OrgMode)

Process your time block plan, see what needs moving
Check your tasks and ideas, move them to you digital systems (#OrgMode) if need be
Then go mash that box, knowing that your mind is empty and you can go relax and do home / family / leisure stuff

#TIL in #Emacs and #OrgMode:

If i want to timestamp an entry, I use C-c .
and if I want to do this *without* causing it to appear in the agenda, I use C-c !

The second step is pretty handy for me to date my entries in my decision journal.
I want to keep track of when I made a significant decision and my rationale behind it.
But, not something I want popping up in my agenda :)
