An update on the Elipsa 2e, six months later and how it has influenced my reading.
I got my greedy paws on a Raspberry Pi 5 last month. Probably the Pi after this, will be the one at which I will say these are good enough and stop my “get ’em as soon as they are available” manic buying spree over the past few years. I use it as a music jukebox (with Jellyfin), as a place to host my audiobooks/files, as well as a syncthing node. Update, 2024-02-16: Six months later … A couple of years ago, around this time, I upgraded to the best reading experience I could afford at the time. I got me a Kindle Oasis. I called it my Hole Hawg. And boy, has it served me like one. And while it has done, everything it promised it would do, I found myself outgrowing it and needing something more powerful. ...
Update: 28/12/2021 The solution? Move off the 64 bit Raspberry Pi OS and install Ubuntu. Everything below is now just for history and context :) Every time I update my Pi, whether it be an kernel update or due to something goofy I do, it refuses to be accessible via ssh after it boots back up. And everytime I bring it back to my desk, it just works. And when I put it back into its niche, by the door, it continues to work. But inevitably, sooner or later, comes a reboot, and we’re back to being inaccessible. No ssh, no plex, no network. ...
The old Paperwhite, is on the left. The Oasis is on the right. I ran out of space on the 8gb Paperwhite and so grudgingly went and paid extra for a 32gb Kindle Oasis. This was before a friend pointed out that even the Paperwhite now has a 32gb variant. ...
