French, seems to be the only thing that I do regularly. Probably because it takes me only 45 minutes to an hour daily. (And that is because I am dumb and slow and deliberate. I’m sure other folks must be doing this is 10-20 minutes) While I thought I was making progress, I had a funny sort of realisation when a friend asked me if I could speak and carry on a basic conversation in French....
Nothing much to say except that I am still at it. Chipping away slowly at this, waiting for my all at once moment.
Morning Lets see what this day holds :) French Did a review session Made 15 flashcards MITx, 6.00.1x, Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python goofed off on twitter and read articles on blogs instead of studying learnt about tuples. it’s been an hour & a half and I am still terribly distracted. doing the dishes to regain focus. be back in 30. Nope. cannot focus. Annnnnd now there is no power....
Just did the MIT course all day today, because my next problem set is due tonight and I did not want to fall behind again. Got distracted a bit, but a lot less than yesterday with the way Nikola renders headers, and youtube videos of sausage making :P Now that I am going through the class, I realise programming is not what I imagined. It is at once, much simpler and a bit more complex than I thought it to be....
Day 1 is an disaster of fantastical proportions. I did lots of stuff. But I got nothing of consequence done. Save one big thing. I managed to buckle down and study for six hours. That counts as a win, a big one in my book. Will hopefully get more done tomorrow. If you are following this blog, the days might soon seem out of sync. That’s because I’ve decided that Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are my days of study....
Similar sounding words are an absolute murder on the ears. I can’t figure out moo and moue, kip and keep, and lots of bonne and bun. Keeping at it though. Keeping at it. :)
Coasting along this week, not stretching too much. Just doing enough, so I do not fall off the wagon. Having fun reading every word with r with the french ʁ sound :)
It’s going swimmingly well so far. Still in the phase where there is an avalanche of stuff coming at me. But a few tiny things, I know now. Which is how I know I am making progress. P.S. Crazy idea that just struck me, would to start writing these updates in french as soon as I am able!
This was a week of learning to work at it. Lots of fun. Managed to keep up with daily lessons in the Fluent Forever app. Am having trouble with the guttural ʁ sound. Hopefully will get better at it with practice.
Finished reading the fluent forever book. Tried creating flash cards when i got a mail telling about the just launched app. Have been using it to start with French. It truly is a timesaver. I know because I have been creating flash cards for a year now and it takes a significant amount of time. It is really cool to have all my resources in one place. Have stuck to the plan diligently....
