Goals
- Continue the move to K3s.
Don’t overthink. If something you want, is out of scope, but important and takes more than 10 minutes to do, skip it. We’ll tackle it later.

- The K3s cluster is
default:defaultNeed to change it - Comparing it with my
kindconfig tells me I need to change- the name of the cluster
- the name of the context
- (possibly the user, but I’m ok leaving that as
default)
- Ok cannot do it during install. Popular suggestions are to just rename things in my copy of the
kubeconfig - 2025-11-05 08:49: Making a list of all my services. Ok, there is cruft I need to clean up too!
- the main domain
- the mastodon archive
- the email distribution list
- miniflux for rss feeds
- joplin
- baikal
- discourse
- markdown editor (hedgedoc)
- anki
- huginn
- syncthing
- 2025-11-05 09:17: Went off the rails just now thinking about backups! Think I’ll just figure out how to backup each service somehow.
- 2025-11-05 09:30: Break
2025-11-05 10:00
- start with a smol syncthing folder to test
- no start with my website
- there’s going to be
devversions of every darned thing i do now!
2025-11-05 10:30
- the dev environment is overwhelming me and creating extra work. maybe i’ll create one later, when i need to prototype stuff without bringing down my main cluster
- will just stick to creating the main prod cluster one bit at a time
- switching gears then to try and automate as much of the main cluster creation as possible
- rapid reading two gitops books (ok make that 5)
- i get frustrated at times with the slow progress, but then yea, another hidden piece of the puzzle falls into place, so i ought not to grumble too much
- the need for helm and kustomize just clicked in my head

- 2025-11-05 17:51: On my final book
- 2025-11-05 19:02: Calling it a night. Gained some new knowledge. Not as much as I expected. Let’s see what tomorrow brings
