Goals

  • Nothing much. Read. Do Go if possible

  • Working on ReDerb.
  • While the poke and search thing will do for this project, this shows me I need to write a fuck-ton of code, once I am done with my talk. I know what to do. Translating that into code is what I wrestle with. So, practice, practice, practice
  • I seem to be keeping well to the read a tech book a month goal. I did two Go books last month, and a Go and a Java book, this month. Much better than agonising about them being too difficult to tackle and take the normal reading approach to them; don’t like it? dump it. read lots, read widely and read repeatedly and it sinks it over time
  • I always thought, I’d be a polyglot with computer languages. Now I realise, that I like learning them deep, and life is short, so Python, Go, LISP and Rust, maybe all I ever learn. I think I can call myself pretty conversant with Python so far, and learning the ecosystem and its idioms, was a long undertaking. Looks like Go is going the same route. So best to be realistic :)
  • Go in many ways, does things much more simply than I imagine it does
