Now to rapid read some CS:APP. Everytime I read anything about code, folks talk about stuff with a lot of context. And as I am slowly getting better at writing programs, I realise I have none of it. So getting some fundamentals in, will be really helpful! Switched to Okular (installed via a flatpak on Mint) to read all my large PDF files. Goals + Recap Darktable lessons Figure out Look Up Tables (LUTS) for my Fujifilm camera to use in Darktable 2026-04-25 09:45 Done with the morning routine. 2026-04-25 10:30: Started watching Dylane Moreau’s French Grammar Lessons. Upto lesson 4 today. Off to make some green tea. And then on to Darktable. 2026-04-25 10:35 Ok, ready with tea at the desk. 2026-04-25 10:45: Making good progress learning darktable. Most of it seems to be figuring out where the image controls are now in Darktable as opposede to where they were in Lightroom. (and figure out how to twiddle the knobs to get what I want.) The instructor has a thick French accent. Reminds me of my old school days. My high school physics and chemistry teachers would talk about waves and valencies in heavy Tamil and Marathi accents. And all of them are top notch at what they do :) It adds real flavour to my learning! 2026-04-25 12:02: Done learning most of the modules. Now to figure out how to apply them locally and selectively using masks. And a huge sigh of relief! Now I am quite sure, I can get replicate my old photo workflow in Darktable. Figuring out LUTs for my Fujifilm X-T5 camera later and I should be all set! 2026-04-25 13:20: Yay! Course succesfully completed! Goals + Recap Learn some Darktable Figure out to use my clothes vacuum pump, so that I can compact my winter clothes in a vacuum sealed bag 2026-04-23 08:15 The pain is much less today. Modern root canals seem to be much better than those of yesteryear. (Note to self: Remember to take your meds) I bought myself an electric kettle a couple of months ago, so that I would always have hot water on hand. I love using playing with it. I love listening to the sounds the water makes as it boils. It’s very meditative. I also like letting out the steam after I pour the water out. Fly away you little baby cloud. You’re free! 😂 2026-04-23 10:25 Figured out the vacuum thing. All the woolies are in. Put all my soft toys in another bag and compressed them as well 😂 2026-04-23 10:30 On to darktable lessons 2026-04-23 10:48: Finally figured out how to use curves! Goals + Recap Root canal 2026-04-22 09:00 Cleared the decks, for my smallest root canal session today. There will be more in the coming days. I think I will just shut everything down then focus on reading. For now, it’s just one day at a time. 2026-04-22 10:25: iCloud photo backup done. Off to the dentist. 2026-04-22 12:45 Back. Step one was a success. More sessions over the coming two weeks. Have back to back client meetings as well.
